"The Lord will perfect (complete) all that concerns me (pertains to me); Your mercy, O Lord endures forever: forsake not the works of Your own hands." (Psalm 138:8)
My Dearly Beloved,
Today I prayed that in the midst of election angst we'd all be reminded that our duty is to live in a way that shows confidence in the faithfulness of God to complete all things in our lives to bring us into full fellowship in Heaven, at the appointed time, with Christ.
God's mercy in Christ will not forsake us no matter what happens in this or any other election. Christians are not promised an angst-free life, but they are given the end of the story. They need not worry that God will fail in His work. We are, in the midst of this world, "the work of His hands" (Isaiah 64:8) toward inhabitance in His eternal Home.
No matter how far we've travelled from a comfortable sense of God's goodness to us in the leadup to the presidential election, God is not, and never will be, deficient in His relationship with us; He has elected us. The Sovereign God knows the beginning, every minute detail in the messy, messy middle, and the ending of this earth. Don't let's us stay stuck in the angst of the messy middle. Let us raise our hearts and minds to Heaven and praise God for His Story, for His Glory and for our good. In the understandable angst of this nations path, press toward the mark of the high calling of the sons and daughters of the Most High God (Philippians 3:14).
Much love, Mom
