"So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place, then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains" (Matthew 24:15–16), because "the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God." (2 Thessalonians 2:3b-4)
Below I have quoted an example of an "abomination of desolation", the vision statement of a church in a California valley. This particular abomination is not unique among the many organizations self-identifying as a church. The son of destruction (Satan) is sitting in the temple of God (the church), displaying himself as God.
"We envision a valley (in California) where every child has the opportunity to learn from cradle to career and lives in a neighborhood free from fear, where families can afford to live in safe and decent housing and eat nutritious food, and where enterprising workers can earn enough to make ends meet and save for the future, where immigrants are welcomed, and where those who are imprisoned, physically, and mentally ill, elderly, and vulnerable find healing and hope.”
Sounds lovely, a heaven on earth; precisely what Satan offered to Christ. "And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, and said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will. If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.” And Jesus answered him, “It is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve’”(Luke 4:5-8).
If you are in a church that peddles an abomination as if it's gospel (good news), "flee". And if you can't tell what an abomination is, open your bible, read, and pray for discernment.
